Frog arms or butterfly brace?

I'm thinking of getting some bracing for my na8 and was wondering if anyone has dríven any mx5s with either frog arms or butterfly braces and how much of a difference it made when compared to stock. Which one do you think is better value for money?

I kinda want some of these braces but I can only ever see subjective feedback about the difference in the car. I would love to find some objective evidence of their worth...something like back to back lap times adding in diff / PPF brace, frog arms, butterfly etc.

I dropped about a second and a half from my PB at Wakefield during the first track day after my butterfly brace went on; nothing else on the car had changed. Anecdotally I'd put practically zero correlation between the two factors and instead give credit to just becoming more experienced on track, but if you want hard numbers...

Feels good, looks shiny. Couldn't say if it actually improved the car but the placebo effect at the very minimum is better than nothing.

hmm, yeah, I'd like to know if it actually makes a difference for the amount of money it costs. Does it at least noticeably reduce scuttle/cowl shake?

Group buy sounds like a good idea if I decide to go for the frog arms, I have another friend who's interested in that too.

FYI. There was a discussion back in 2012, including Nitrodann making some. Back then the Boss Frog braces were $250 + $110 shipping. Not sure if the $1000 import limit before taxes still applies or not?

Yeah I asked in Danns thread about it and also sent him a PM (I think I did).

I reckon we should put together a list (again) of people who would be up for some fender braces from Dann and peer pressure him in to making them

I believe some people have had sme fitment issues with the Ultraracing ones.

I haven't heard anything about the Ultraracing ones. I would love some door bars but I feel like it's already a little too cramped in the car for a daily drive, I'd have to stop stuffing things behind my seats... I did talk to Dann briefly about frog arms and butterfly braces. He doesn't seem to think much about the butterfly brace, unfortunately that's the only opinion I've had on that brace other than what Jeo said in here. I'm still keen on the frog arms or something similar if we can work something out.

I've got the butterfly brace but I don't think I had owned the car long enough to tell when I fitted it.

Previous owner had a drive and said he can tell the difference.
