i wouldn't. too wide and tall.

you would need at least an 8 inch rim. pretty sure stock are 6 inch wide.

i would stick with 195 50's on the stock wheel.

if you have standard power there is plenty of grip to be had with good 195 50 tyres.

Stock rims are 6.5 I'm pretty sure. Even 195s really want a 7" rim.

195 are max on a 6.5" rim. Check the recommended sizes from tyre manufacturers catalogues - Kumho and Federal come to mind.

the tyre manufacturer will have min & max rim width recommendations for each tyre & size combo.

stock NB8A comes with 15x6 rims and 195/50 tyres

Here is a link to Yokohama information on the recommended rim widths for their tyres.

That link suggests 6 - 8 in rims for 225/50/15, so on that basis the std wheels are good to go.

Are you going for performance or aesthetic benefit? If performance go the bigger wheels , plenty of evidence quoted in discussions elsewhere on this site about the benefits of bigger wheels. In which case a 225 is way too big.

If its cosmetic, narrower rim equal softer ride.

Edit...be aware you're gonna have to roll your rims too.

I can only speak from track experience. 225/50R15 Yokohama medium compound A048R and A050R are the control tyres for the Porsche 944 Challenge series. Front runners in the series only use them for a day or two. After that they're a good source of cheap R-specs for MX5s and other small cars.

I know a few drivers who've fitted them as track tyres, even on 6" rims. They look a bit big but they still perform very well. Certainly haven't heard anyone complaining abut them, except that the medium compound is a bit too hard for us and they're better kept as summer tyres only. I recall one day at Phillip Island that a guy who's normally 2 or 3 secs slower than me was starting to push me and I asked him what he'd done. He said he'd just changed to the 944 tyres on mixed 6" and 6.5" rims.

I think there's way too much BS about tyres rolling on rims here. Fact is that if you've got a driver who is not particularly soft with his hands then going to a larger tyre on a small rim will often help his times. Basically you lose a little bit of turn-in response and gain a bit of grip.
