Motul RBF600 Date Stamp on bottle

Hi all,
I have had 2 bottles of RBF600 in the garage for about 6 months now.
Bought it from 949.
About to do a complete flush this afternoon and noticed there is a date stamp on the bottles.
Both about mid 2012.
Can anyone confirm that this is a manufacture date, not a DO NOT USE after date
If it is as i expect a manufacture date, how long do you think its shelf life is??
Any help much appreciated.

Its been in the ground for the past billion years a few days extra should be ok
Date stamps on such non food items is there for a indication of when it was packed in case a problem was found or recall needed
IT OK

Thanks mate.
Was looking for confirmation that it was a manufacture date.
So what is the shelf life of Brake fluid before being affected.
Obviously an unopened bottle.

I cant see how unopened brake fluid wouldn't be ok in 100+ years. Its just Triethylene glyco

It would depend on the moisture content and boiling point.
Which would depend on how well the bottle is sealed.
Worst case scenario is the the fluid boils at a lower temperature than a new bottle would.
Do be aware though that the RBF600 isn't compatible with normal brake fluids, being a different makeup it may react badly with any DOT4 left in the lines.
(I remember hearing about a car where the fluid had gone thick and gloopy from the guy mixing silicone and mineral brake fluids)

Think DOT4 is castor oil based

I believe Motul package the bottles with Nitrogen to allow longer shelf life.
I was just curious as to how long people keep unopened bottles for.

RBF600 is DOT 4. Which is a not Silicone based. That would be DOT 5.
My understanding is it would be fine in a normal DOT 3 or 4 system.
Obviously i have 2 bottles so i can flush the system of old fluid.
If i am wrong please tell me now!!
Would rather suck eggs before hand.

I jsut googled this:
http://www.linkint.com.au/motul_rbf600.htmlAll types of hydraulic actuated brakes and clutch systems (not to be used with silicon-based and mineral-based brake fluids).
I'm not 100% familiar with the Motul stuff, so maybe look into it a bit first.

It's the date the stuff went into the bottle.
Dont mix it. But guessing that is why 1000ml was purchase, to do a full flush.
