FEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUW
Finally just got rid of my 3 year rattle which I thought was my koni's. I spent $1,000 for new Bilstiens, GGRRRR had the same rattle. I was seriosly thinking about selling my Mexie if the next option didn't work. Because Koni's have a 12mm round thread the D shape hole was made bigger to fit, so it always had an annoying rattle, I took them out and fitted a tight washer for the new Bilsteins, still rattle GGRRR again. I bought some really good 2nd hand strut tops with good D shapes from MX5 Plus, BTW really helpful and quick, just swapped the easy back ones over and now YAAAAAAAH all fixed.
So any koni Rattlers out there don't slash your wrists, theres hope. I do have 2 spare if needed.

Why not just use sikaflex or similar?

no no no no, I needed the perfect D shape in the strut top, I did actually lever the springs down to put sixaflex between the bumpstops and strut tops (refer my frustrated stut top msg a few months ago, that still didn't fix.
The new Bilsteins has a D shape to suit the standard MX5 stut tops so a big ass 12mm hole doesn't work even with a little 10mm washer

2nd time around i did better i got an exhaustguy to help provide a washer to stop it wobbling. 3rd time I kind did get the sikaflex in there but the D shape tight fit still needed to be there

Is this on the front or rears?

Re: fixed rattle after koni throw away
The Koni's where on the car when I bought it, then came the Bilsteins to fix hopefully fix the rattle. I now fixed the rattle from just replacing the rears as rear struts are so easy, so the rears have strut tops with really good D's and the front still has a 10mm washer to stop the bilstiens moving. I had bought 4 good strut tops from MX5 Plus and was going to do the fronts. I have also left out the plastic gasket that needs to be there and have no dirt between body/top

Lol I'm sure it's fractionally lighter. Haha.
Nah its just been apart and together a million times so it only has the bare minimum to hold it together. That will all change should it get sold.
