- were the stock black tubular braces on my 07 NC1 standard on all NC1s or optional?
- the car squeals front tires when cornering hard, would upgrading these help? If so what is a good option.

Quick answers:

Yes - standard
No - your tyres will still squeal. Possible fixes - check tyre pressures, get a good wheel alignment, replace tyres, don't corner so hard.

What else did you expect them to do?

Yes , standard.
Your tyres will squeal for all sorts of reasons, even some of the best tyres on a perfect alignment and pressure will squeal...

The ungraded strut bar , despite what those who have never fitted one might say, DOES stiffen up the front and take out some of the slight 'flutter' that you will sometimes feel over some road surfaces.
Great on a track car..It will not stop the squeal.

My vote is the tyres themselves. Most 'normal' road tyres are gonna complain about vigorous driving. Check the size too. I've got these "Nexen" 215/45 that the previous owner put on and they make a loud crunch and invoke DSC on even a moderate corner. That's only one size up. Yeah they're on the rear so a bit different- but just highlights the difference good/bad/wrong tyres make even on stock wheels/suspension. Actually, scratch that. Especially on stock suspension...)
