Help with tyre scrubbing!

Postby kayye » Tue Dec 11, 2012 6:41 pm

Hey guys, I recently fitted 20mm bolt on spacers to my NC.

The car is running 17x7.5 with 215/45/R17s.

With the spacers in the car is scrubbing in alot of places when it goes over any form of uneven road. I am planning to have the guards rolled ASAP but the main concern I have is that the tyres scrub on the inner arches when the steering wheel is locked.

So my question is how do I stop the arch scrubbing? and is it safe to continue to drive while the tyres are scrubbing?

Thanks in advance guys!

Ken

One must ask why spacers?

Next, why 8.5" rims? Max legal size is 8".

On your rubbing issue, how low is the car?

Got spacers as a xmas present! Which also means I rather make them fit than get rid of them :?

The wheels were 17x7.5 with +45 offset, however with the 20mm spacers the wheels should be just under a 17x8.5 with +25 offset?

The car is not very low, they are sitting on eibach pro springs with OEM blistein shocks. The wheels dont scrub the guards unless going over bumps, they do however scrub the arch liners when turning...

Just get rid of the spacers.
20mm is putting a huge load on bearings and studs.
Probably diving all over the place too.
10mm spacer maybe...
