Hello,

Have searched on the forums and cant really find a definitive answer on these coilovers.

I know there arent many out there for 1K ish price though what i would love to know is "who is running these"? and their opinions?

There is no definitive answer, only opinions. X thousand individuals on this forums, means X thousand opinions.

I use them, and am happy, but my requirements and preferences may be completely different to yours.

Best course would be to detail your situation, requirements and plans, then see if anyone else using YSRs from a similar context can offer their opinion, or better, give you a demo.

the guys at mania have them on the gold race car. apparently they are really good on track. not sure how they go on the road though.

I have BC Racing BR series coilovers and consider them better than the Yellowspeed coilovers from a build-quality point of view (yes, I have actually seen the Yellowspeed coilovers "in the flesh", I helped to replace a set of them with AFCO coilovers because the owner wasn't happy with the Yellowspeed coilovers - he kept hitting the rear bumpstops).

If I were to buy a set today for around the same price I'd probably buy HSD coilovers since they have an additional rear tophat that allows for an additional 100mm or so of travel - reduces chance of hitting rear bumpstops).

TIP: When taking advice about coilovers, you really want to seek it from people who have experienced different combinations, they will know what the real differences are. Most people who have simply replaced their tired 20 year old OEM suspension with virtually any other suspension will swear that what they have installed is the "Best Suspension EVER!" when in truth the difference is because their original suspension was so bad.

i agree with the above but the question remains

i looked at those HSD ones spring rates seem to be identical to all the rest same 30+ adjustments etc

so pretty much its all about word of mouth and $$$$ i guess, true?

reason for coilovers , want to get rid of the rear wheel gap and improve track handling without breaking my back etc when going from A to B, just like every other man and his dog eh ............

You can specify your own spring rates too for the BC coilovers (for an added fee I assume).

I may purchase the 9kg front springs at some stage to attain the "ideal handling ratio" of 3:2 (ie. currently have 8:6=1.333 vs the ideal ratio of 3:2-1.5).

Or spend the money on quality dampers and springs. Ie bilstiens from shox.com. Better for avoiding a broken back.

I have just under a finger gap between the tyre and guard on 195/50/15 and I am no where near hitting the bump stops. I was using lowered jap springs on factory suspension, tein mono flex and now the yellow speeds. They are definitely the best for the street so far.

I currently run YSRs on one of my cars. They are the fifth different coilover I have owned. All coilovers have their pros and cons. Just gotta do your research and fine what is best for you and what you need them to do.

I've ridden in a variety of NBs with different coilovers. Tein SS, YSR, Bilsteins.

The question I'd ask is, I paid $11K for my car, do I really want to spend $3K on coilovers that aren't going to be 3x as good as YSR?

If you're happy to do that, that's fine. It doesn't make sense to me...which is why I'm getting YSRs for my Integra.

Fair enough so which ups and downs do the yellow speeds have?

Good point i understand what you mean, so yellow speeds are good bang for buck?


Also reading other posts about the yellow speeds say that the rear suspension is not height adjustable?

From what I understand the earlier versions didn't allow for a lot of height adjustment but they've added 20mm now I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

As for bang for buck...they are very affordable, give a reasonable ride, and are race tested.

from the 2nd picture in the thread Regie referenced, the rears had height adjustment via the spring collar. It went low enough that I had to raise it back up
