'Proper' Roll bar for NC

When is someone in Oz going to start building a proper roll bar for the NC.
Something that can fit within the bounds of the std interior trim.
It's done in the US but obviously to a much bigger market.

Very little (if any) demand for such an item in Oz.
Get one custom made or import one.

I agree with you Sailor, those hoops don't impress me at all. Actually, that is wrong - I am impressed at how flimsy they appear (see the photos in the rollbar thread)

Isn't the roof in the way when folded? Would this be a roll bar in, top locked in 'up' position situation?
I have wondered whether taking out the softtop would be the way to go? Use a hard top over the bar, or with the PRHT, just put tabs on the bar and bolt the plastic bits to them. That way I am guessing you could do a four point bar that would be CAMS certifiable ...

I'd reckon you could have a diagonally braced hoop with removable rear braces which are installed once the softop is up for trackdays.
For day to day use the braces are removed so the top can be dropped.

Rob,
JDM roll cages fit under both soft top and hard tops without removing anything. I saw a cusco 6 point roll cage second hand in yahoo auctions Japan for 500, shipped to aus around 1000; 2 months ago.
You can use nengun.com to look at yahoo auction parts. There are also local forums in Japan similar to our forums but you'll need to understand Japanese.
Good thing is my friend can read Japanese and I'm currently waiting for a second hand header to pop up. I'll keep an eye out for you. What's the maximum budget?

I have actually seen a video on the net that shows exactly what you suggested. They replaced the existing bar with thicker material and had lugs on the back of the bar and for the track, 2 bars bolted on the lugs and then went down to the francenstein bolt and bolted there. From memory they even used the existing bar covers just cut out the bases to take the larger bar.
Problem is I can't find it on the net anywhere and cant remember who it was, but it was in the USA

Yep Dale, seen that one BUT you then need to run with the top down.
Anyone who has seen the pics of my car after my muddy exit at WP T2 would understand why I want the top up

Rob, if you plan on running at Eastern Creek or supersprint rounds at Wakefield Park, it would pay to make sure the rollbar is CAMS compliant. Pretty sure that anything with removable rear stays or without a diagonal brace would not meet those requirements. You don't HAVE to use a rollbar in Type 2, but if you do, you'll have less grief from scruts if it's CAMS compliant. Study the rules & regs!

Talk to some of the Supersprinters about the grief we have had when running CAMS-compliant bars (BDs), now think about what running a non-compliant bar would invite
. I would not wish that on another competitor.
