rear brake shims / springs missing ? 92NA6

Postby Basho » Mon Apr 16, 2012 1:30 pm

Just went to change my rear pads and found that the green stuff pads already installed had the lower pad springs and all the pad shims missing both sides.

The brakes don't rattle and work fine.

Did all NA6s come with shims and an upper and lower spring on the rear brake set up.

--If not has anyone got any ideas why these would be left out/missing ?

Shims were on all of them, but bear in mind it's more the pad than the car that dictates this.

Not all pads come with new shims, so they may have been forgotten when the pads were changed.
Or perhaps the EBC pads don't require shims (I've not used EBC before)

AS for the springs, I presume you mean the little W shapes ones?

Again, there should be one top and bottom, not using them won't cause any harm, it just means the pad may slightly rest on the disc.
It probably just fell out during the last pad change, they're not held in by much.

Use antisqueel generously to hold the pads still and away from the disk... Or just leave it it wont change a thing.
