Urgent request: idiotproof DIY install YSR front coilovers?

Hi, I'll find a DIY thread if it exists, but first just want a quick answer.
The idea is to get these in so that I can get the wheel alignment at Spinning Wheel next Saturday.

I bought Rhys' (RS5800) Yellowspeed front coilovers and am keen to put the car on jack stands and remove the factory bilstein shocks/springs and install these coilovers.

These should just fit in. I just want to know what to look out for, in case there are any tricks or things to look out for. Do I need to compress the coilover with some kind of tool before installing?

I will need to adjust them, so hoping someone with experience can PM or text me ad I will phone you. I'd have gone to Mania yesterday but was out at the other end of Sydney all morning.

Thanks
Ben

PS. Jorgan92's thread noted he used a spring compressor; is this for the OEM springs and if mine are already very low springs, is this needed? Thx.

Even if you don't need a spring compressor to get the YSRs on, I think you will need it to get the original springs off.

I watched David at MX5 Mania install the YSRs in my NC around a year ago, and although I don't recall all the details I don't remember seeing anything that looked tricky.

If you are using spring compressors, you arw doing it wrong. Google 'long bolt' method. Basically just want to undo the sway bar, two bolts holding the shocker at to top of the tower and the long bolt on the lca. Everything should pretty much drop out. Oh and of course the bolt holding the bottom of the socker. Should be a straight swap then back together. Just crawling into bed after nightshift, so prob missed a couple of steps, but you should be able to work it out. Keep in mind the long bolt may be veeeeery tight, so dont hesitate to use the force. Id say goodluck but honestly, you dont need it.

Shouldn't need spring compressors for the Bilsteins. Just undo the sway bar bolts and the long bolt that holds one of the arms. Takes longer but gives you more clearance.

Longer? This is faster

It's quite straightforward, all you do is unbolt the original, swing it out and slip in the coilover, no tricks, no spring compressors since you are not taking the Bilsteins apart

As other stated fairly straight forward, I needed spring compressors, I can guarantee that without them I couldn't have done it, but if the Bilstien's are shorter Maybe you wont need em.

Watch this for idiot proofness:

I think he had Bilstiens and needed spring compresses... But I wont comment as I dont know the difference between the two size wise.

Not unless you have a stubborn long bolt ;)

Nah, just use a hammer. Or undo the top bolt and the brake caliper (total of 3 bolts with very easy access) and pivot the arm down.

if he's swapping shocks and springs for a set of coilovers (not just the springs) the long bolt method is the easiest as per previous posts.
if he's swapping springs you may need the spring compressors.

I've passed my book to Ben, but have also suggested front only coilovers are not necessarily a good idea.
