hi all.....want to improve brakes....new discs and pads...were to get at good price???? are stainless hoses on front worth the money???? should l do front and rear hoses...thanks david

Which car? Why do you want to improve brakes? What do you use your car for?

90% of the time, decent pads will get you most of the way there. Lines probably aren't worth it.

Could we have a little more detail about your car, your brakes, your existing pads etc?

sorry guys...1990 roadster...cheap pads previous owner fitted...used mostly for daily drive...but do mountain runs.. thanks guys

Just a set of decent pads should do the job.

I find if I get quite a bit of pad fade on hilly roads, and if they're really twisty I sometimes get fluid fade.

First steps (and cheapest):

Flush and replace the fluid with new stuff, what's in there has probably been in for years.

Replace the pads with something a bit better.
I've got random branded $20 pads in mine, hence the brake fade, I found the OEM Sumitomo pads were great for the road, and didn't seem to fade that much.

unless you want to do the work yourself it is probably best to go to a brake repairer and ask them to check and give you a report. As the car is 20 years old it could have disc probs and other wear needing a fluid flush and possibly replacement of hoses. The NA guys should be able to advise what is the performance of brakes in good cond. The car only weighs 950KG and for road conditions you should not need to deviate from standard-good quality pads suitable for your style of driving will be readily available. I have never experienced brake fade on an NB. If you want to do this work yourself and have the time you will still need to remove the discs for checking and machining ( probably not on a weekend) - the brake repairer will not machine if undersize.
