Does anyone have a recommended alloy wheel repairer in Sydney (preferrably in the Lower North Shore area)?

I fould these guys on the net - http://www.mobilealloywheelrepairs.com.au/ - they seem ok, but if you have one that you highly recommend, I'm all ears.

What kind of repair? Alloy wheels don't like being repaired if buckled or bent.

My findings after talking to wheel repair shops:

Gutter rash - normally repairable
Bends/dents - repairable in most cases (both steel and alloy)
Sharp bends - Sometimes repairable.
Cracks - Not safely repairable.

Just gutter rash. The face of the wheel looks like machine finish, and the inside of the rims and the sides of the spokes are painted.

I have just had one of my Enkies repaired at http://www.wheelrepairs.com.au/?showPage=About+Us at Botany and I would happily recommend them. Not cheap, but neither is a new Enkei

I've read really good reviews about this place, from people repairing exotic wheels. I recall that previously, their website stated that the people were ex-Simmons. Sound right?

What about the place that used to be at Thornleigh? Pretty local for you, Alan, but I think they may not be here any more.

The guy at Botany is the guy that used to be at Thornleigh.

Have used him twice and would go to him again. Great work he used to work for Simmons back in the day I think but yeah you could probably find someone cheaper.

Also has a PRB Clubman race car I spent awhile drooling over.

Are repairing gutter rash damages expensive?

I've been tossing up whether or not to repair some of mine which came like that when I bought the car.

Don't use those mobile repair company's. A friend used one to repair gutter rash before a concours event. Cost $100 per wheel. The result looked good but the first time he hit the wheel with the gurnie to clean them, all the putty came away and he was back to where he started.

how you guys manage to do that to your wheels after the 30ish years of driving experience you have (yes in my mind you all wear cardigans) is beyond me!

Well, we drive our cars, we are not anal about them (not me anyway), and anyway sometimes sh*t just happens. Sometimes, it is not even us who does it ...

i daily my pos and haven't ever smashed my wheels into a gutter. you obviously need some practice at parking or just some bigger tires
