Hey guys,

I recently bought a used na6 rear caliper but when i went to turn the adjuster nut it feel out and the teeth were stripped. Would replacing the adjuster nut be as simple as dropping it back in with a new one and hoping the internal is fine?

Hopefully that's the case. It is definitely worth a shot anyway!

i'm told that you can buy the nut as a separate part from mazda.

the alignment nuts/bolts in early models tend to work their way loose, so were altered slightly from NB onwards. if you are planning to keep the car for a while, it may be worth doing the lot as most of them would be rusty and not doing a great job. if you do the lot, it's MUCH cheaper if you purchase genuine parts from the US.

the reason i bought a 2nd hand caliper because it was cheap and my one leaks around the adjust gear/ handbrake part. Anyways just visited mazda parts centre they didnt have the adjustment gear instock, but a thought came to mind. If i take out my adjustment gear on my caliper and use it in the 2nd hand caliper i just bought would this work also? If so how do i remove the adjustment gear? does it just simply fall?

Oh hey:

You could also have a look down the adjuster hole and see if the teeth of the adjuster are stripped. It should be pretty easy to see if they are.

yeap was planning to do that; but apparently if the adjuster gear is wet with brake fluid the o-ring is gone. So im just gonna go purchase another caliper.

Yeh if it is wet or corroded you have issues.
