Rear Lower Control Arm - Repair or Replace?

b4 Xmas out near mx5mania I dropped as the 5 was reverberating over bumps + slight banging from all over, not good
Mania squeezed me in to find- L/H rear LCA captive nut (for shock absorber bolt) had broken free & bolt was threaded!

Mania replaced bolt/nut quickly b4 closing, but Rear alignment was out, back to my local, he welded the nut in place and re-did the alignment.
All good, until 2,000K later, reverberation returned and when I tried to torque the LH rear shock bolt it just keeps spinning!
It's very hard to see in there, but I assume the nut has broken free again.

I'm trying to figure out the best way forward;
-Should I go back and ask them to weld it again?
-OR Should I get a replacement rear LCA?

If replacing the LCA, should I redo bushes in both rear Lower Arms, to keep it all even?

Thanks, RJ

I was hoping someone who's fixed this might mention how and if it lasted.
Did you remove the arm, enlarge the hole with a dremel for more room to get a better weld, or something along those lines.

Alternatively, does anyone in Sydney have a LH Rear Lower Arm for a NB?

I did the same to my LH lower control arm a few years ago.

Ended up getting a replacement arm + bolt from MX5Plus, was ~$80ish at the time.

Fortunately for me I put new suspension in at the time so I didn't have to try and get the old bolt out, just replaced the whole arm and put new suspension in at the same time.

I also checked for new, dealer wants about $350!
So 2nd hand it is.

Did you also refresh the bushes at the same time?
I'm thinking bushes of different age/condition could leave things unbalanced.

I have super pro bushes so I took them out of the old control arm and put them in the new one

I'd go secondhand. If the car it comes off has roughly the same mileage as yours then its bushes will be in roughly the same condition as your other ones and it should be OK.

Secondhand it is, hopefully I find something close in mileage.
