Hi guys
Need some info for slide pins for NB8B 270mm front brakes. I believ the NC is using the exact same pins up front.
Basically I need the bottom ones with the rubber on them.
Only place I can find them on line is mx5parts.co.uk

Does anyone know anywhere else cheaper?
I am going to try calling some Mazda dealers tomorrow, but from past experience I reckon they are going to want to sell the whole calliper.
The only topic on this before is from 2008, from Hellmun, which is pointing to the same conclusion I am coming to.

The back ground story.
Was setting up car for the 4th of December trackday, had not received new pads from the USA, but had new rotors so went ahead and fitted them with my Hawk HPS road pads.
Noted that the rubber on the bottom slide pins on each side were stretched and missing chunks. Decided to fit pins without the rubbers because I couldn't get the pins in without the rubber sliding backwards.
Did up all bolts and went to rear. Put race pads in there all good.
Went for a drive and had a knocking sound under brakes, plus a pulsating pedal.
Though it may be the in-balance cause by having the race brake at the rear so decided to put the road pads back in.
Went for a drive again, still had the knocking sound under brakes.
I then decided that the rubber on the pin was some sort of damper, so decided to fit what was left of them back onto the front pins.
Slowly worked the pins back in with the rubber on.
Then tightened the bolt to secure the pin to the frame, and the thread inside the pin decided to strip on the left side!!!!!!!!!
And to top it off it still had the knocking sound.

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
Last time I bought the slider pins from a dealer (John Newell in Alexandria) they were $23 each from memory.

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
I never did get a conclusion, shortly after that post I traded a factory NB8B STB and my original calipers for some barely used SE calipers. Completely solved my issues but doesn't help you now.

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
Thanks caffeine, I'll see what Mazda can do, but I got a feeling they will say they have none left, like they do with every part I have tried to source.
I had exact same problems as you with stuck caliper slide pins a while back but worked it out slowly with grease. Lukcy it was the top one though.
Also have heaps of wear on inside pads, mild on the outside. My Hawk Blues had 4-5mm left on the outsides and about 1mm left on the insides, as the bottom pin has been jamming. Oh and this is on 2 sets not one .
Now how do you polish the inside hole on the frame the pins goes into???

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
I used emery paper wrapped round a drill bit (not in the drill, just by hand) plus about an hour each side.
I ended up buying new SE caliper frames. I have my reconditioned original frames sitting in a cupboard. If you need you can borrow them until you get yours up and running (or get new ones)

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
Nah, its cool, I can have the Mx off the road until the next track day, I'll just drive my bomb falcon on weekends as well as the normal weekly work run. At least I fixed the rear suspension in that now so it will handle slightly better.
I guess I'll put the Mx-5 on stands in the garage then since it won't be moving until I get the pins anyway.

Re: Brakes NB8B Slide Pins
Mazda Australia did have them.
Got them from McGrath at Moorebank, who had to order them from Mazda Australia in Victoria.
The slide pins were $20.52 + GST each. They said they are the same as the NC top pins, where as they are NB8B bottom pins.
The bolts were $12.32 + GST each. (Pretty expensive for bolts if you ask me)
Also got the 2 bolts that go over the handbrake adjuster, as I have slightly rounded one.
They were $6.69 + GST each.
And just in case any one is interested, they do have a Caliper seal/rebuild kit with the rubbers for $150 each side.
