Surprise. Falken ziex912 better than achilles platinum

Postby chris d » Mon Nov 14, 2011 10:51 pm

Well probably not.

185/60/14 size and the achilles were not great in the dry and appalling in the wet.
Drove the new tyres home (2hrs) and they are great (compared).

Let's see what the wet brings.

Why surprise?
Falken have been around for a couple of decades and Achilles is still trying to build their reputation against other "no name" SE Asian brands.

I've used a few different models of Falkens and really liked them. They may not be the best, but considering their prices vs other established/respectable brands, they represent very good value.

Are they still made in Japan?

Well I was trying to say that the Falkens are better and should not be a surprise.
I don't know where they are made sorry.

I've just put a set of Ziex 912's (225/65 R16 for $199ea) on my Rav4, Dry seems OK, pretty quiet, if it ever rains here again I'll see how the are in the wet compared to my RE001's on my 5 which are great.

So, let me get this straight.... you are looking forward to heavy rain (and its possible consequences) near your place?
