SE QLD RWC Help Request

Postby Lokiel » Fri Oct 14, 2011 5:14 pm

I have a friend who's in the process of purchasing a '96 NA8 from South Australia.

It has had an RAA inspection which noted that the wheels are not ADR compliant (they are the Axis wheels as shown here:http://www.mx5mania.com.au/product1816.htm and here: Image)

The aftermarket steering wheel is too small as well; Nardi Steering wheel shown here: Image

Does anyone in the SE QLD region have an OEM steering wheel and OEM NA8 wheels (or compliant wheels) that we could borrow for a week or so to pass the QLD RWC?

I believe that an exchange of alchohol is usually customary in these circumstances :)

I have some stock bbs's that I could lend. I'll just have to throw the 6ul's back on the car.

Also have a stock nardi.

Thanks plohl. Is the stock Nardi installed at the moment or not? (I don't want anyone to go too far out of their way if possible). I might just swap my 6ULs over if they'll pass RWC (1red5 suggests trying the fronts first to see if they'll be compliant).

I'd rather not give them anything obvious to start with - if it generally looks OK, it wont be scrutinised as much ("he said with his fingers crossed").

Seeing as Plohl is keen go for it.

If your first place knocks you back though you just change the obvious bits and take it to a different place if there is something else you don't want to change.

Why are the wheels non ADR compliant?
American European and Japanese wheels are all good in Australia.

also - the min steering wheel diameter is 330mm, so that nardi looks a-ok.

The rims are 15x8 so stick out beyond the NA fenders - will fail RWC.
