i found out last night that at full left lock, the inside edge of my front passenger tyre scrubs against the lower control arm. is this a tie rod adjustment issue?

car is NB8B with stock wheels, stock tyre size, slightly lowered.

thx - i'll try to get a photo/video. i won't have time to get under the car for another week or two, but i'll update when i have more info.

i did some googling (how awesome is it owning the most popular sports car ever made) and found out that the steering stops are built into the steering rack, so another possibility is that the steering rack isn't adjusted/centred properly.

Put the wheels straight ahead and then note rotations required to reach each lock.
My bet is that the rack was turned more to one side when the steering column was connected to it then the difference was just adjusted out in tie rod lengths.
This has left you with more available lock turning one way than the other.

i'm getting approx 1.28 rotations for max right lock, approx 1.3 rotations for max left lock. so not exactly centred, but not that far off either.

i had the car up on stands over the weekend and found that there is evidence of slight rubbing on the driver's front tyre as well, but it's so slight that there is no visible wear/damage to the tyre - only a suspicious clean spot on the lower control arm. the passenger side actually sliced chunks of rubber off the passenger side tyre.

with the suspension (tein flex) at full droop and full lock, there is by my estimation 15mm clearance on the driver's side and around 8mm on the passenger's side.

at the moment i am pretty confident the problem can be dialled out by adjusting the tie rods and reducing my max steering angle during my next wheel alignment. it's pretty odd that the OEM tie rods will allow you to adjust to such an extent that you can shred your OEM tyres on your suspension... (assuming this adjustment is the cause of the problem)

i discovered the problem while doing some extreme manoeuvres on the skidpan at eastern creek, so the high cornering forces may have played a part on the rubbing.
