I seem to have a clicking noise from my front right calliper

My car is a NA 1.6 and they are off an NB8A

I have greased the sliding pins and it has lessened the noise slightly, any ideas?

Cheers Eren

Missing the spring steel location clips so the pad's just floating around in the caliper slot?

Sounds right. Many lose the locating clips, not to be confused for the backing plates.

Without them, the friction is higher between the disk and the pad, than between the caliper and pad, and so the disk drags the pad around a couple mm until it whacks the caliper.

Its NOT a safety issue i might add, hopefully give you some relief.

thats sounds like the problem!

Like Dann said it hasnt affected the braking performance any, but its just so farking annoying :x

I might be getting some new parts ie pad separating springs and clips! i dont have the pad backing plates though, might look into finding some today

ont buy the backing pads, they are a major cause of rattling and squeeling due to them vibrating.

Buy a tube of antisqueel. Its a rubbery glue that glues the pads to the caliper, stopping them from making any noise at all. Keep the locating clips but use this instead of backing plates.

Email Mazdatenfive and see if he has some clips, or if you buy the OEM pads from MX5parts.co.uk, they come with the clips included.
