So I've imported some Tein Super Streets - the price compared to getting it locally was hard to resist, plus I believe my King/Koni setup to be rather tired.

Has anyone got any tips for me which I wouldn't be able to find in manuals and the usual sources of miata.net, searching this forum, etc?

I can't recall what the NA front subframe looks like, but on the NB I have tried both the top bolt method and lower tongue method, and the top bolt method was MUCH quicker and easier. I've heard the ladies prefer the lower tongue method though.

As far as fitting goes I just fitted a set to my NA6, I used info from miata net found it very helpfull,for the front I used the method where you remove the long bolt.
As far as set up goes I am still tinkering I lowered it to a height where I can still get a trolley jack under it. For damping force I went by the manual, which I think is too soft I will setting it about 4 clicks harder then see how that feels.

Removing the top bolt of the suspension worked great putting it in, but now that it's all done, on every corner there's a gap between the top nut and top collar. Gah.

Not 100% sure what you mean about a gap,only thing I can think of did yours have a plastic type gasket on top of the old shocks & if so did you put it back in,if you did you probably didnt need to as the top of the teins has a rubber ring which works as that gasket, with both in you may get a gap between the top of the shocks & the shock tower.

Suspension's rattling like a bitch. I've just put some washers there for now, but I shouldn't need them.

I'm going to try moving the 35mm long collar to below the top mount/hat and see what happens.

Ahh, you have the Tein mounts, so the setup is quite different.

the green things are the pillow ball mounts that are a tein. The OP has the OEM top mounts.

I used OEM top mounts but I don't think that you've set them up correctly.

definitely don't have a space like that on mine.

Take a look at these install instructions for the model you have and pay particular attention to the assembly of the strut/spring with all the rubbers and collars.

oh just remembered.. did you torque that up with it mounted or not mounted? i recall it was not the easiest thing to do with the damper unloaded.

I've probably got nothing to lose by swapping the location of the collar, aside from time.

I believe so!

I left the collar in the position the manual specified, but put the big washer they specify is for use on NB tops/pillow ball tops underneath the little collar. So it went, from the bottom: Big washer->small collar->NA top->35mm collar->fixing nut.

For the front spring seats, I ignored the NA setting of 23mm and instead use the NB setting of around 58mm. I can't remember what I did for the rears.

It rides really well now, though. The weird noise I had going over bumpy surfaces with the Kings/Konis is gone, and the car generally feels more planted. But I am comparing it to 9+ year old King springs and 5 year old Koni adjustable shocks.

Good to hear its fixed & riding well.They do have a firm but comfy feel about them.
