Need: Kumho KU31/36 in Sydney

Just had a wheel alignment done at Spinning Wheels (the car feels great!) and they told me that all the driving I've done in the last few months have taken it's toll, especially on the inside of the tyres (to be fair the tyres have lasted over 40kkms so I can't complain)
So I've asked for a quote from them for a set of KU31 in 205/45/16 and they've quoted me some ridiculous amount... Over $250 each!
Does anyone know where I can get a set for a good price in Sydney sometime in the next 3 months? Won't need alignment as i'll be going back to Stu for that.
Also, should I go for a wider tyre at 215 or even 225 width? Especially for the rear wheels? (never tried having 2 different pairs of tyres on a car before)
thanks in advance

what size wheels are they? are the rear wider than the front? if the answer is no and wheels are roughly 16 x 7, you won't be needing wider tyres.

they are 16*7 rims sliq but I wad wonderig whether it'll work even better if I get all 4 or at least the rear tyres on a 215 width for more grip?

i don't think you'll need it. but see what the tyre fitters say first.
let us know how it goes. i'm also in the market for some new tyres too. deciding between the ku36/31 or toyo t1r's.

Well the beat I've got so far is $740 for a set of 4 incl fitting and balance (maybe it'll be a bit cheaper if I dun get them to do alignment) and that's from a Kmart chain.
What's more surprising is that the price varied by $50 between 3 Kmart stores that are located within 5mins of each other...
KU36 only comes in 215/45/16 configuration, which might be too tall for what I'm looking for.
Not sure whether KU31 comes in the ideal 215/40/16 config though...

Tempe Tyres are another place. 195/55/15 KU31 for $100 each and KU36 for KU36.

Badbong, those prices seem about right for what you're getting. Have you tried the "official" resellers listed on the Kumho website? Prices are
roughly proportional to wheel diameter. I was recently quoted $229 in 245/35R18 and $219 in 215/40R18 for KU31, so that's $896 per set, fitted and balanced. KU36 were $279/$250 respectively (except 225/40R18), $1058 per set. That was from Kay's Tyres in Albion Park Rail. One or the other will be going on my 135i as soon as I finish off the runcraps. OEM RE050As runcraps were over $700 per tyre!
Keep in mind that KU31s have a pretty high treadwear rating (around 300 I think), so they're probably not quite as sticky as other performance tyres (tread depth is pretty normal, so the rating is mostly about wear rate / tyre hardness).
Don't bother paying for an "alignment" from a tyre place. All they'll do is check it, not adjust anything. You're better off getting a proper four wheel alignment by a specialist.

vic, if it's any help,
i just got off the phone with option1 in QLD.
ku36 only come in 215/45 or 225/50. i only enquired about the 215/45/16 and they are $149 a corner.
with ku31, they come in 205/50: $211 a corner. the price on these have skyrocketed (they were about $100 a corner this time last year, but option1 were directed by kumho to mark up the prices for whatever reason).

Thanks guys - looks like I won't be able to find somewhere below the $150/corner mark as I've first hoped.
So far, the best price I've got is from a Kmart outlet at Randwick for $180ish / corner including balance.
Does anyone else have any other ideas? (really need the tyres soon as they were starting to dash off the road at the drive last weekend and there's Putty Rd coming up
Cheers
