Hi all,
I have a problem with my '90 NA6 with the handbrake sometimes getting stuck on (on one side). The issue is with the lever/pivot in the wheel hub (that gets pulled by the handbrake cable) getting sticky and not returning when the cable is released.
It's been causing trouble since I got the car a few years ago and I've had several attempts at fixing the problem.. I remove the cable and return spring, degrease and regrease, and work it back and forth a heap to loosen it up - seems to make a big difference at the time but then within a month or two it gets sticky again.
Usually I can reach behind the wheel and free the mechanism with finger force alone, but it's still pretty annoying
Anyone have any advice for fixing this problem permanently, or suggest any good mechanics/garages around Perth to sort it out for me?
TIA

usually it's the brake slider pin that needs lubricating:

Thanks for the reply. By brake slider pin do you mean the things I've circled in blue?
I'm confident it's not those to blame, the handbrake lever arm (red arrow) is getting stuck in the on position and I have to give it a smack to return it to the off position. (When the handbrake is disengaged the the lever arm doesn't return, the cable just goes slack)
PS this isn't actually my caliper, just a pic I Googled.

then the piston is probably corroded - so when you tap the lever it applies pressure to the piston & releases - also reasonably common
