Tyre choice and availability

So, I have been looking for tyres to replace my 5 year old ones which are not quite up to the task that I require of them.

I'm after something sticky, and am not at all concerned about tread life

Problem is, the 185/60-14 Adrenalin that I had on order have recently jumped up in price as they are no longer Australian made, but are sourced from Japan.

I know principles can be expensive, but as a matter of principle I am not prepared to pay more for tyres that i had been quoted on and had ordered a week ago, irrespective of where they were manufactured (load, speed and treadwear are identicle)

So, that leaves slim pickings for other options....

Any ideas and thoughts?

So Far I have been advised of Pirelli P6's as another alternative

as well as Hankook K415's....

Perhaps I am asking too much of my tyres....

I have Adrenalins on my NA and they are so far worth every cent. But I paid about $110 from memory and dont know how much you are being quoted now.
I also just put Toyo Teo Plus on my Mazda 3 (205/55-16 at $167), and they are the most quiet tyre I have experienced and are available in 185/60-14. Grip and turn-in dont seem as good as the Adrenalins, but they are also very new.

Quoted around $140 a tyre.

I know the adrenalins are good, but that's a fair way up from $108 I was going to be receiving them at....

I'm at the point of considering getting a 15 or 16" lightweight rim with greater tyre choice for my spirited driving, and keeping the OEM BBS's for historical purposes...

Adrenalines at bridgestone artarmon in a 185/60/R14 are $99 each!!

Plus $5 a tyre off if your with NRMA and you buy a set of 4.

There is a complete thread about the Adrenalins on here somewhere

Opinions were the Australian made ones were not as good as those made in Japan.

As Dweezle said, get a quote from a Bridgestone tyre place rather than an independent. The stocks of Aussie made Adrenalins would have only recently run out. They have been replaced by Thai-made Adrenalins (apparently) which are definitely around the same price. The independents might be sourcing the more expensive Japanese-made ones.

Try Stukey Tyre Sevice in Brunswick 93865331
They are a sponsor of the MX5 Club Vic.
I have always had good dealings with them in the past.
