tyre wear

Just bought a 1999 NB with standard 15" rims and was wondering if anyone could tell me what mileage to expect out of a set of tyres with normal highway use.
I would imagine the rear tyres would wear quicker and it would depend on the tyre brand but as a general rule of thumb. Thanks.

how long is a ball of string? too many facotrs like driving style, mechanical settings and tyre type and compounds all could make up a 30,000km difference.

Would/should be balanced out by rotating/positioning the tyres as required to ensure even wear.

You should be able to get at least 30,000km out of a set of regular road tyres, provided they are run-of-the-mill stuff (300+ treadwear rating), not soft rubber performance tyres (180-200 treadwear rating). On the other hand, Bridgestone Adrenalins are pretty cheap (~$450 a set) and would easily last 15,000-20,000km with moderate street use. They stick well too, in the dry. Hit the track and they'll wear much quicker. I got 6000km out of my last set (included about a dozen trackdays).

hey wiz. thought you would be on here soon. I think you would be lucky to get 30k out of a set. i have seen you drive and am impressed. I am sure you will be able to handle the mx5 as well as you did the mr2. and show some of these guys some good driving.
