EOI: 225/45/15 Tyres

Postby Lokiel » Thu Aug 19, 2010 1:56 pm

I'd like to fit 225/45/15 tyres to my MSM now that I've ordered 6UL 15x8 rims for it (yes I know that "common sense tells me to simply fit 205/50/15s which ARE available in Australia" but common sense is something I lack according to my Dad).

Unfortunately the only tyres this size I can find in Australia are Kumho V70A 225/45/15 but these are a track tyre costing $380 each so are way too expensive for DD'ing.

I can import 4xToyo R1Rs for about US$1100 (incl S&H) from the US but have also e-mailed James at mx5centre and he said that they would consider importing them if we can garner enough interest.

If you're interested in purchasing 225/45/15 tyres, please add your name below so that he can track how many MX5 users are interested. He also has interest from other car owners too so the MX5 numbers may be enough to make the decision for him. If you have any preferences, please add them after your name.

1. Lokiel - DD tyre (occasional track use)

just so you know though you may choose to ignore, i have 205/50 r1r's on 8 inch rims and they are pretty flush. the 225's are only about 10mm wider that the 205's.

YES!

add me to the list. Hankook RS3 is now available in the states too in 225/45/15 with 140 treadwear.

Thats the way i was probably going to go, rather than another set of V70As (which i have now). However, if someone stocks them locally, then they have my business. James should throw half a dozen sets in with the next 949 racing container 8)

1. Lokiel - DD tyre (occasional track use)
2. Rob E - As above "S" Tyre. Hankook RS3 or Toyo R1R
