I have a problem with my rear drivers side brake sticking on whenever I use the handbrake.
Has anyone encountered this and is there a fix.
I can always release it by hand but it means getting under the car and pulling on the handbrake cable.

Sounds like you have the infamous 'slider pin' issue. The slider pins will corrode if regular maintenance is not undertaken. Here is a previous post on this very subject.

if it persists after greasing the slider pins then probably the pistons slightly corroded in the caliper.
