What tyres is everyone using? i do 3-4 track days per year. I need road tyres to replace my Falken RT615s and want something that doesnt get so slippery after 3 or 4 hard laps?
Thanks.

You really need a 225/40 width tyre but there’s none around.
There seems to be only two quality manufacturer’s that supply a 215 or 225 for a 15” rim. Toyo make the T1R in a 225/50/15 and Brigestone the RE001 in a 215/60 & 225/60.
But the 225/50 profile is 40mm higher than your stock tyre so besides appearance issues your acceleration will drop noticeably as will the handling due to all the extra weight your throwing up and down over bumps.
So you are limited to stretching a 205/50 across the rim (not good) or doing a personal import from Tire Rake or someone similar.

Only problem with them is they aren't generally ADR approved.
Don't think he's worried about ADR approval as the 8" rims are illegal on a NA/NB anyway. More than 1" (25mm) over stock width.

didn't the se come with 17x7? That would make an NB with an 8 inch wheel legal yes?

Can you elaborate why a 205/50 on a 8" rim is 'not good' ?
Emilio has track data that shows that 205/50 are faster on a 8" than on a 7" and even suggests 195/50 as an option for the 8" so not sure 205 is being stretched.
I thought the consensus was to get the side wall square for best effect which a 205 on a 8" is exactly that.??

The combo I stated in post #2 is the exactly what Emilio suggests.
Using a 225/45 is okay as well, but its not cheap and not readily available

Go here
http://www.michelin.com.au/tyre/pattern ... ilotSport3 and see what minimum, recommended and maximum rims widths apply to the tyre width, and I bet the manufacturers know a hell of a lot more about tyres than we do.
Click on "Size" and then "View Specs"
195: min. rim width = 5.5", recommended = 6", max. = 7".
I ran a 205 R-spec tyre on a 8" rim, sure it fitted but it wasn't the optimum size and the rim was way outside any piece of tyre rubber. Too bad I don't have a photo to show you. Lap times with a 225 fitted were far better than the 205.
If you go to this site:
http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp you can feed in the tyre size and see what tyres are available. You will also see that the fitment function won't allow a 195 to be fitted to a 8" rim.

you can go 1.5"/39mm wider (than widest for said car available) in NSW if you have a engineers cert. due to the car being 801-1200kg in unladen weight.

15x7 is exactly that...

I run 205 R888's on my 15x8 6UL's and they sit fairly square.
The R888's in a 205 width appear as wide as the 225 Kumho V70a tyres that were on the car when I got it. Makes me wonder how standard the tyre widths are.

My R888's are wider than a standard 205 as well (205/50 R15) I've got them on a 7inch rim and while they're not terrible they're not quite square. 7.5inch is probably the perfect width for these tyres so they won't be that bad on an 8inch.
