Power Steering

I Have just purchased an NA 1990 MX5 and now looking to fit Power Steering, was thinking of purchasing a Rack, Pump etc' from a wreckers. Does anyone have any advice or experience in this area.

Check with our sponsors first if you haven't already. They might have a complete kit available 2nd hand. Since you're in Melbourne, call MX5 Centre.

AFAIK, the entire manual steering assembly needs to be replaced if retro-fitting an OEM NA power-steering. I was told the ratio of the NA steering is different between the powered and un-powered version.

The threads on the tie rod ends are also different so make sure you buy a rack with them attached. If not, allow 50 bucks for them on ebay.

if anyone can think of any pitfalls with DIY installation I'd be keen hear.

MX Factory Ringwood may be able to help out. Not sure what it would cost if you pay someone to do it- you will certainly need a wheel alignment afterwards.
