Bit of a gumby question but I'm thinking of returning my NA6 to the original ride height and softer suspension settings. I'm currently running Tein adjustable dampers and non-adjustable springs. Since I spend most of my time on Brisbane goat tracks I'm thinking of finding some original springs and lifting the car back to factory height (until I move away from the inner suburbs at least).

I'm just after a bit of a guide on the dampers - will changing the springs soften the ride, or will I need to track down some softer dampers as well (I suspect so, but figure some one on here will know for sure). I find even at their softest setting the Teins are still pretty hard on a bumpy road. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Were your Teins bought from Fulcrum in QLD or were they purchased overseas? Teins purchased from Fulcrum were modified (lighter springs & revalving) for Australian conditions, whereas JDM Teins have heavier springs. You can get lighter springs from Wholesale Suspension, a forum sponsor, however you might still find your Teins require revalving depending on how much comfort you want - of course for some people it's better buying the Aust spec Teins in the first place, as springs & revalving already purchased JDM Teins isn't cheap. Alternatively, pickup a set of 2nd hand factory dampers & springs to replace Teins until you move away from the inner burbs:

Thanks for that 93_Clubman. The teins were on the car when I bought it (they came from Mercury Motorsport) so I'm not sure if they're JDM or not. I'm pretty happy with the current set up on smooth roads, so I think I'll keep them and find an original set of NA6 springs and dampers for the moment.

Sure do miss Canberra roads some times.

Indeed, one of the benefits of living there was the roads were pretty good - didn't offset Winter though.

The 2nd half of the model number on the lower shock body allows identification of JDM, or otherwise, Teins.
