15x8 +15et fitment on a NA6

I'm considering purchasing a set of rims in 15x8 +15et for my NA6 with probably a 195/50/15 tyre as that seems the go with others. I've currently got Tein Flex coilovers running at the lowest legal height with upgraded brakes from the 1.8. What would I be looking at in terms of guard fitment here, slight or heavy rolling??? I'm currently running 17x7 +45 and would like to move to a nice 15" rim but do not want majorish guard modification.

Open to comments/thoughts/experiences...

There is no minimum or maximum when it comes to guard rolling. I believe you would be reffering to flaring/pumping te guards.

All you would need is some rolling and a bit of camber.

Shouldn't be too hard at all. Have a search around CR.net for pictures.

You should get away with just rolling and no widening of the guard, assuming you have some camber. Lowest legal height? distance to the pinch welds? At legal height the car wont look too good with those wheels.

You'll definitely need to roll the rears a fair bit, I had to with 7 +17 on the back. I'm not sure using a bit of camber to do it is a great idea as it makes it more obvious to any police behind you that you're running something modified, and while your turbo is legal now, 8 inch rims aren't.

I have a guard roller which you are more than welcome to borrow, might be a week or two until I get it back from some Skyline friends that are borrowing it atm though

Do u think 15x8 will be too wide and excessive weight to a NA??
I have a set of 15x7 +44 Work Emotion CR Kai White (NOT a single scretch) with 90%+ RE001 195/50 fitted under 2 months ago.
Not intend to sell, but will consider for offer. lol...

They now sitting on my starlet GT turbo perfectly.

I had a NA before. IMO not really good to get 8" wheels for non-power mod-ed NA. Too heavy man, unless turbo-ed

if you buy some of the many lightweight sets of 15x8s available then no issues with weight. 195 tyres are almost 8" wide anyway so no issues there either (except maybe for legality?)

And since he is coming from 17x7 (although no mention of brand/model) I'd suggest they would be heavier than most 15x8s anyway so would actually be an improvement..

Adam, thanks for the offer of your guard roller. The only thing that is worrying me about rolling my guards (apart from never having it done before) is what fitment will look like after if I ever change wheels to a higher offset again. Will I have bastardised my mx5??

Silvermx5 I have had the chance to meet arextwo and to look at his fitment. From memory I think the wheels were a 0 offset or close to?? His fit looked ok to me, clearly you can tell that they are wide rims but they look so good! I will need to make a trip down south to come have a look and to introduce myself. It seems that SA is starting to build up some MX5 numbers - maybe we will need a run/cruise sometime soon...

My mx5 is turbo'd and running some heavysih 17's (17kg for tyre and rim from memory) with very little tyre wall and I am keen to go to some 15's which should be lighter and also nicer handling.

I do like the lightness of 6UL's, but I am a dish man and perhaps I am caught between two loves!

Rolling the guard won't affect the look with different offset rims, it simply rolls the lip at the bottom of the guard under. I did mine with a rubber mallet. You are thinking of pumping out the guards where you actually change the shape of the guard. The main thing to watch out for is cracking the paint, you need to heat it up.

hey mate, I'm running 15x8 +15's on my na8 at the moment. It sits pretty low, with 195/45 tires i only ever had the slightest rub on the front, but i have since changed to 195/50's and had some dramas. But Ive had the guards lightly rolled (as in the inside lip pushed up) and now its pretty well sorted, just need to adjust the rear height a little and it'll be sweet. I'm in Adelaide too, so give me a yell if you'd like to come have a look.

here's how it sat with the 195/45's
