So looking at the BC coilovers for sale at Mania, I've heard good things (mainly from the people selling them) and just wanted to hear what MX-5 drivers' opinions where?

Who's running them, and what do you think of them?

I've ridden in them, firm, but not too soft.

For price and the amount of adjustability they are great.

This.

They are now cheaper then Ksport/D2/G4 too. Though there have been some problems with the perches hitting the LCA's if you want to slam, but that wont affect most people here.

They are a firm ride, i prefer my G4's though, they are firmer (and thats what i wanted).

Very happy with mine. Better than my previous koni/king setup. Separate preload and ride height settings are a bonus too.

Hi Moto,

I bought a set from Just Jap, 101 Bath Road, Kirrawee but I haven't installed them yet because I have an issue with the rear shocks, which I posted in the "MX5 Wheels, Suspension, Brakes & Tyres" topic a few days ago. It was last updated on 25/10/09 and currently appears little further down than your posting. Read what I have to say and make up your own mind. One guy agreed with me but most didn't. However, I remain unconvinced by the majority and am in the process of trying to get a damper with a longer stroke to fit to the coilover assembly. I may also need a higher top-hat to offset the longer damper body, but I'll sort that out later. I am hoping that the damper issue will be sorted out in the next couple of days, and I will post my solution in due course.

When you do buy, I would recommend you get them from Just Jap. They sell them for $1100, which is cheaper than Wholesale Suspension in Blacktown and cheaper than MX5Mania.

Thanks for the tip Ricky.

I did read through your thread and i'm siding with the majority. If plenty of people say they have them and they are fine, who am I to argue :)

Are these the ones you bought? The price looks like it's gone up recently, oh well. Do they come with the adjustable top hats like in the picture? You never know on these sites if they are showing a picture of the actual product or just a random picture from the BC catalogue.

Cheers.

It's not the actual product, just a standard picture.

JustJap are reliable no worries.

Hi Moto,

Yes, I bought BR type RS series like the ones pictured in the link, however, as philz says, the ones pictured are for a Mcpherson strut type suspension, not MX5. The RS series has rubber top and bottom mounts. BC Racing also have a BR type RH series which has Pillowball top and bottom mounts, although what the advantage is to an MX5 I don't know. Maybe it is a bit firmer for track use.

I paid $1100 a fortnight ago and if you go there in person you should get the same price. Just Jap also have them listed in eBay for $1100. Look for the Australian Distributor, not the Kiwi one. Just Jap have the V1' DESIGN listed in eBay too, but they are $1200.

Here is the eBay item.

I'm not sure that these are the same model shock as Wholesales Suspension sells.

Just Jap BC shocks for the NB's are V1 Design VS series @ $1100 or BR Type RS Series @ $1299 both with 30 level damper adjustment. The NC's are V1 design VS series @ $1199 or BR Type RS Series @ $1299 again both with 30 level damper adjustment.

Wholesale's BC shocks are a VA & VH series with 32 level damper adjustment, so I don't think we are comparing the same shocks.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Ugh confusing! Which ones are better, the V1 (which are on Mania for $1250) or the BR (ebay, $1100)?

Well I took the plunge and ordered the black and gold type off ebay, $1100 with no postage cost! Should have them in the next few days and we'll see how they go!

Just a question (hopefully not dumb).
How come they list the same coilover shock for the NA and NB?
I thought the NB units had longer travel(longer) and made the NA sit up if they were fitted!?
Or can a standard NB setup be used on an NA?

Puzzled!!! :? :?
Anyone help. Could i fit some SE/SP units on an NA? Would they need modifying and exactly what modifications?
