Hi all,
I have just been offered these wheels for quite a good price, they come with crap rubber, they are 15x6.5, +38 offset and need some serious TLC.
I am going to paint them anyway, what do we all think, look dodgy or fine? Guy says they are good and no damage structuarly.

I like them. With some new rubber and once being cleaned I think they will look good on your car Cheyne.

My other half was looking over my shoulder and went "ooooh" (not in a good way) I agree. Not a fan of this style of mag, very 70's. I used to run similar style of mags on my rally car but that was only because they were cheap!

Yeah I gota say I'm not a fan either, maybe worth it if you got them for $100 or something.

Do it, do no listen to the above two.
If you are getting them at a good price, buy em, probably the closest thing you will get to reverse mesh for price. unless you can get your hands on meshies then get those instead
So close...
Yumm do it.

I can understand that, i think it's one of those things where you love it, or you dont. I really love the old school look. These wheels will be my daily's and the na6 wheels for track

$230 with the sh*t tyres

I think i will, these are going to be a restoration job. The tyres will come off eventually, i will get them sandblasted then spray the centres silver and polish the lip.

I was looking at the pair for sale here but thought trying to find the other pair to match would be too difficult. These will have to do for now

I won't state my opinion on these wheels specifically, but just give a lil' advice on buying 2nd hand wheels;
Unless they are really cheap, don't let price be the major deciding factor.
Long story short, I now have 3 spare sets of wheels which I am finding difficult to sell
(bought them because they WERE cheap and had really good tyres on them).

Id say do it. Its a cheap way of getting some 15's on your car, then you can save up and get the good stuff (6ULs??) further down the track.
MX5's, (and NA's in particular) are great as they can pull off most wheels. 3, 4, 5 spokes, mesh, retro, 90's, modern - they can all look good on 5's.
Style wise, id say these wheels are closer to the factory option 15in BBS's rather than the reverse meshs:

Wun's definition of weight (rim alone in size 15").
wun-weight < 4.0 kg
lite-weight is 4.0-5.5 kg
mid-wieght is 5.5-7.0 kg
FFG-weight is 7.0-9.0 kg

they look nice Cheyne, it's actually difficult to imagine what they would look like, they are like the SSR reverse mesh centre, but with the high offset of the BBS option ones.
are you able to do a trial fit and take pics?
