Hi All
Can you help re Shock replacement, for my NA
Looking at Tein Coilovers (Basic Kit ) and (SuperStreet)
Has anyone fitted either to their car ?
If so have they made the ride any harsher ( Bone jarringly so) than the factory setup.
Or offer comments on what type/brand that are Best handling without effecting ride quality.
Regards Tony

I've never heard a complaint about Teins.

basic and street, will make it better than stock.
They aren't spine breaking coilovers, unlike buddyclub.
Best for daily, would be Tein "superstreet" hence street, and they also have dampening adjustment if you want it a bit more firmer.
Basic is just the same as superstreet without the dampening adjustment.

Hi Tony
If you send SPyvSPy (Mark qld mx5 club elpresidento) or(Gerard also comittee) NMX16 a pm then they can give you the good oil on Tein upgrades..
I had a set of Super Streets itted to my old NA with the edfc...Expensive upgrade but well worth the money. They are good enough that i kept all the suspension to refit onto my old smokey NB when i get time in a few weeks...
Don't forget if you are a member of the qld club you can show your membership card and get a reasonable discount from fulcrum.....

SS's here. Well worth the upgrade, can be harder or firmer than stock 5 setup depending on what setting you have them on. For approx $2k fitted, it's not worth buying Koni/King or Eibach combo's as that will cost just as much, but won't give you ride height adjustment like the Teins do.

i seem to be in a small minority of one, in that i find my tein super streets to be very harsh compared to the oem suspension.
altho my oem suspension was old, worn out and very soft feeling. my bushes were shot too.
so my opinion is somewhat invalid because i also fitted the harder superpro suspension bushes at the same time as the super streets. i also moved to a new neighbourhood that has some of the bumpiest, cruddiest roads you're ever likely to find in australia. nmx516 has experienced these roads so i'm sure he'll agree
anyway, the harshness that i complain about seems to only be a concern at very low speeds, on my bad local roads. once you get up to a decent speed the super streets just soak up the bumps and perform flawlessly. at high speed, they really are amazing.

Oh yes, I agree, you won't get any argument from me on that one.

i am happy with my tein ss.... coz, it really suits my car usage.... wanna more funz on road... as well as few track days in a year.... it's more bumpy comparing to before.... but just slightly.... ride quality is still acceptable, even though i had it on at full hardest.... but if u r looking for something more hardcore... and heaps more track days.... maybe tein ss is not enough for you to play with..... I am happy with my ss, coz, I find my street driving more funz.... cornerings are great.... much less body roll.... ride still ok.....

I agree with Fatty, the guy who lovingly had my car before me, had lowered and put bigger rims on my mx. At first after driving a european 4 door , I thought I would end up in hospital due to what I thought was extremely harsh suspension, but I love it now, I dont what brand they are, however it handles like its on rails, albeit local roads give me the sh*ts cos I seem to feel every bump, but would recommend 'stiffer' suspension. Cheers
