Replaced my Pads tonight
The fronts were all good
But the rears I noticed only my P/S rear pads had backing plate my D/S didn't :S
What is the backing plate for?
ATM I don't have any backing plates on any of the rear pads
Do I need these backing plates?
If so where can I get them and how much are they?

Can you take the plates off the old pads and put them on the new ones?

i don't use them anymore but coat the back of the pad with hi temp grease - the same stuff you should use for the slider pins. should cost you about 15 bucks from repco. the backing plates just create a sliding surface between the pad and the piston so they don't get caught on eachother from what I have been told.. I make sure to re coat the slider pins with every pad change as I think they can seize

I thought it was just to keep it quiet you dont need the backing plate to stop.
You can get this spray on break quiet stuff for the back of pads.
Congrats you have saved some unsprung weight.

I cant see the pic in the link but if it looks like this:
Then yeah you need them, I have tried to run without them to save unsprung weight.
It will be very noizy and I think they help to push or at least allow the pad to move away from the rotor when your not using your breaks.
If you have NB8A, 1red5 might have these, I'm not sure shoot him a PM.
