Just had a call from Peter at Garrys Motorsport and they have a few 205/50 R15 D03's available. Compound is M and these could be a good thing for those doing supersprints and the like.

There was a mistake made in the order so they have a few sets they would like to clear.

Give Peter a call and tell him you saw it on the MX5 Forum and they will do you a good deal.

How do these compare to Toyo R888's? Both performance and price wise?

I have found M compund to be a problem on hot days after a 5 lap dash at OP, EC or Winton - tragic if doing a 15min practice session at Wakefield - have had better success with grip duration using R compound (next hardest) as recommended by another Dunlop Motorsport Dealer.

For the record I run 205/50/15
These tyres retail for $347.

Toyo R888's are only availbel in GG compound in the above size - so wear rate is approx 100 if comparing to road rubber - and probably a H in Dunlops (the hardest).
Stores that have exisitng stock you can probably get them for $258 still, however any orders form the whoesaler will suffer from the recent price rise that was scheduled to start in March - you would be looking at closer to $300 now.

Once again each driver likes how various tyres feel - we all have our preferences and it is always a balance between cost and performace - I used to like Yokohama's until I tried something else, other guys I run with swear by the Toyos.

Ask around some motorsport guys and see what everyone is running if you are not sure...

When I called him last week I think he told me $295. Perhaps that was me mentioning Chris' name.

Either way, I think I'll give them a miss for the moment. Didn't make a decision on them last week, and the track day was today. Even if I'll be saving $50 a corner, it seems rather silly to buy track rubber to have it sitting around for 3 months until the next club track day.

That and I still don't think I've drĂven the Adrenalins to the max yet.
