I'm new to the MX5 world and still figuring out the compatability of bits and pieces... So do NC struts fit NA/NB's? Any issues??

If you are referring to the dampers or shock absorbers then I am pretty sure that they do NOT fit the NC. I am sure someone else on this forum is able to confirm this as well.

AFAIK, nothing from the NC will fit an NA/NB, except maybe the round side indicators on the front fenders.

Quoted for the truth.

And to reinforce it ==>> http://www.miata.net/garage/compatibility.html

Oh, and the NC suspension has more in common with the RX-8 than it does with earlier model MX-5s, which leads to a whole new train of thought

Thanks for the compatability list Juffa that'll help a heap, but doesn't help with this question.

Excuse me, but mx52nv did answer your question which was:

Settle down mate

If you want a more succinct answer, then visit Richard at MX5Plus and he can line-up NA, NB and NC suspension components side-by-side.

If you weren't such a little keyboard warrior fag you'd understand a strut is the name for a complete damper or shock absorber.. You would've also read my question correctly and answered WHY NC struts DON'T FIT AN NA??

Is it a length issue, or strut top issue? I can't see how it can be a geometry issue as they appear to be the same design as the NA/NB?

Do you know technical answers or do you just wait until you can say something 'witty'?

My...my...such rudeness deserves no more input from myself. The forum sure is getting its fair share of people who bite the hand that could help.

Couldn't help myself

Struts actually locate suspension components whereas shocks are simply bolted to the lower control arm assemblies by means of forks or brackets.

Unbolt a strut and the knuckle drops to the ground. Unbolt a shock and, well, not much happens.

BTW, differences are strut top style, shock bottom fixing, shock length, bump and rebound settings.............

Yeah sorry i may have bitten a little hard there!
I've had a long day swapping over some R160 diff centers for a mate after spending 4hours searching for somewhere to buy an E11 torx bit to drop the stubs.. Sounds trivial i know, it should've been! (I still havn't got one and i'm going insane!)

Thanks for the replies guys, i'll say no to the NC coilovers i've been offered. :(

Well rorge, I think you have just cooked your goose with a lot of people. Les is a well respected contributer to this forum and has a lot of knowledge that you could benefit by.
It dosen't matter a damn if the question was interpreted the wrong way round. If NC won't fit NA then NA won't fit NC. simple.

yes he is a very learned man on all things mx5's. not that you will benefit from it now - or at least you shouldn't. as stated above the nc has more in common with the rx8 than the older model nb/a's. there is a massive range of coilovers and shocks available for the na and nb - much more than the nc I would think. so unless you can get hold of nc shocks really cheap its a pointless question.

They still won't fit an NA or NB even if they're free of charge.

exactly even if they did fit its cheaper to use the wider range of na/nb gear.
