NB dampers (shock absorbers) on rear of NA

Postby Okibi » Fri Jan 09, 2009 7:07 pm

I need to get my NA over the pits to register her but the rear dampers (shock absorbers) seem shot and the rear of the car is bouncy.

Wayne (crazyfrog) has kindly offered to give me his old NB shocks/springs/tophats in a few weeks time but I need a stop gap solution.

I have some NB rear dampers available, will these fit the rear of the NA (and NA springs) ?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Dave, I have my original NA8 units here that should get you over the pits if you want them. From memory they are not great but must be better than yours. Let me know if you want to borrow them.

Dave , i think for sure that the NA springs will be ok on NB shocks, as long as they are standard springs. i. e. not lowered. the car will sit 12mm lower that standard NA. If you are only trying to get it registered then it shouldn't be a problem. the only thing that could cause any dramas is the fact that NB shocks have a helical perch and the na springs are square cut. but for the purpose of a road worthy you should get away with it.

Pete,

Can I borrow the rear dampers for a few weeks until I can get the NB stuff off Wayne O'brien.

When would I be able to come pick them up?

nothing constructive to add, but just wanted to say "HOORAY!", there's someone else out there, besides me, who calls dampers, dampers and NOT shock absorbers

Grab them anytime Dave, give me a call tomorrow. No hurry on getting them back, I just want them in case I ever put the car back to stock (as if!).

Seat, cabin brace, air con (for sale), air box, afm, open diff.... time to build a car out of the crap that we all have stashed away!

Even worse is all the bits waiting to go on, flywheel, clutch, rear muffler, cat converter, edfc, vvt head etc. No wonder I can hardly get into my shed past all the junk.
