Hi guys, sorry to bring this up again, i did a fairly extensive search and read about bracing for an early NA6, But, i couldn't find the answer i was looking for.

I know there are front and back braces available from mania and i have also read alot of peoples opinions on its effectiveness

But, i could not find a diffinitive answer to say wether the 6 pieces of tube type bracing on a NA8(looked at a 94 clubman) will bolt onto a NA6(need longer bolts?). I am talking about the 2 lateral at the front and rear and the 4 longitudinal ones from the chassis rails over the front a-arms

If the answer is a simple no, then i'll simpley grab the two from mania, if its a yes, but. Then I am happy to look deeper

yes and no.

Yes they can be made to fit, but no they are not a straight bolt on.
You will need to drill some holes and weld on some mounting tabs and nuts.

you could weld bolts into the NA6 sub frame to secure it.

or you could change the rear sub frame to an NA8 sub frame.
but you'd still need to weld 2 spots into the middle so the most forward end still gets attached somewhere.

quite easily done for a veteran.....but a fair amount of work for someone without too much experience.

Madboy, I have a mig and the gear to alter the braces e.t.c. More than welcome to do it here if thats the way you want to go.

I think i really need to jack this thing up and have a good look underneath to see what i have. its a bit low to stick my fat head under too far

I have to go down the chassis stiffening road as well and was thinking of making the stiffeners myself. I play with fine furniture all day, so the opportunity to play with metal appeals to me. just as easy to make 2 of everything, and a lot quicker if there is 2 sets of hands.
