What a stupid idea Mazda putting a captive nut inside the lower wishbones on the rear...

Went to replace the suspension yesterday with the SE bits I got from Boyracer, and the first 3 corners went in easily.

However, got to the 4th and the bolt through the bottom of the shock absorber rotates, but doesn't move! Of course it's the one and only bolt that doesn't have an exposed nut on the other end. From the looks of it the captive nut thread is stripped and the only way I can fix it is to replace the entire lower wishbone :(

I'll call up Mazda today and see how much a new one is, and if they have any in the country.

Is the issue removing the bolt or re-installing it? either way it should be able to be done.... many tricks exist in the world of thread stripping young Grasshopper 8)

I could probably get the bolt out by drilling and tapping a hole in the head of it, putting another bolt in that to have something to pull on, but the captive nut is what worries me. I don't think it can be easily replaced.

Of course, Mazda quote $322, and have none in Australia, so a 6-8 week wait.

MX5Plus just emailed me, they have them, $88 delivered to Sydney! Awesome :D
