Motor have released their 2008 tyre test - sized = 215/45x17 on a Clio 197.
This year they test road tyres (eg Adrenalin) as well as semi slicks (e g R888) and a dedicated slick (dunlop formula r)

Some interesting results.

Overall road tyre winner Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE001, closely followed by the Maxxis Victra i-pro. Overall semislick winner was Dunlop by some margin.

wow again. A Maxxis tyre came second? I thought they were just a cheap and nasty China tyre.

Thanks for that. Maxis hey? I may have a look into them, i need some new tyres in the next couple of months. I image they are a fair bit cheaper than the re001's too.

The adrenalins did well except for wet braking (a worry) and track times (blitzed by most other tyres).

Interesting. Wonder if the Adrenalins were manufactured in Australia or Japan? According to the Bridgestone website, that size should be made in Australia. If so, is goes against the theory that the Aust made ones are rubbish.

How scientific were the tests? Even the best driver would have variations in their own time through a slalom. Did they do multiple runs at different tyre pressures? Or did they stick to the same psi for each as per the vehicle manufacturers specs? Or did they stick to the psi recommended by the tyre manufacturer? How close were the tyre temperatures? Was the surface prepped before hand or did the first lot sweep the course and lay down rubber? I'm sure there's a load of variables.

What's that exactly? Tyre inflation figures are suggested by the car manufacturer.

car manufacturers' figures would more likely be geared towards ride comfort for most cars, whereas if you give the TYRE manufacturer a call they will recommend something geared more towards tyre life/performance

I am also not sure I would chose based on that article alone...
