Toyo R1Rs
I have them but got them just as I lost my license. from the short time I have dríven on them they are fine. I have not really tested the grip yet but I don't think that bits in question. The interesting thing I found is they are not very noisy at all. No more then the re001's. They are a really wide tyre too and look great in person. Reports in the states puts the grip level a little bit more the bridgestone RE01R's and RT615's but the side wall is a little softer so not as much steering feedback.
98 evo gold - rotrexed and loving it.

I spoke to Steve Burke at Toyo yesterday, and he advised they have a much stiffer sidewall than the T1R, and that the wear rating is 140 as compared to the T1R's 280. Doesn't necessarily mean that they will wear at double the rate (have to suck it and see...), and sounds like they are along the lines of a 615 - a reasonable track day tyre/ road tyre compromise. He did caution that track days could knock them about like any road tyre. I was quoted $198 in 205/45/16 at Blairs.
Interesting - you should try them for us deputy-dawg.

I look forward to hearing what you think. I'm thinking about getting a set of T1R's in 215/40/16 or 205/45 after reading your posts on them.
Are these actually semi slicks? I found the alignment recomendations on the Toyo website interesting, they're quite agressive. They tempt me as a road tyre as the price seems very competitive compared to re001's etc in 16' so look forward to hearing how they wear and also how they perform when cold and in the wet.

Thanks, good to know. Interested to see you go with them Bigdog. I'll probebly be up for a set of tyres in about 6 months and will save to get something good. Will probebly end up with a more road biased tyre, although still interested in these.

I'm thinking......I'll bolt my 615 back on patchy. see you at your place. we swap wheels on cars & go for a drive.
then put both our thoughts on paper.....errrr forum
major differences will be that mine are on 15' wheels are worn out & so on. However the compound is less than 2 years old so it should be reasonable comparison

Do you own one of these??
*SLAP* Shame on you RJ! They would be way out of my league! I only managed an 1100S in my Leyland days - but it did have a full house 1293cc donk that ran to 8000RPM
No the Tasman refers to cars like these little beasties:
and around 25 of these...
