HELP: RDA Slotted Rotors !!!

i've been trying to find out more about RDA slotted rotors.

Are there different series of slotted rotors ... eg... DBA Standard slotted ... DBA 4000 slotted ?

Does RDA make a few different grades of rotors with slots ???

If you have RDA slotted... how are they .. ? i've been searching on the forum and most ppl say they're good... comparible with DBA's

but i wanted a bit more info ....

My car is a daily driver ... mayb wakefield once every 3-6 months ...

i have used them for track work and they are fine. they dont really have something of the 4000 series grade but they are comparable to the standard slotted from dba.

what pads were you using with the RDA slotted rotors ???

long story short, i upgraded my brades yesterday.

the setup was meant to be this:

BDA 4000 slotted rotors all round

Endless CC-X pads all round

APP braided lines

RBF600 oil

BUT THEY PUT ON RDA SLOTTED ROTORS WITH CC-X PADS ?!?!?!?!

I'm scared the rotors will crack on the occasional track days :shock: :frown: :evil: :? :x

I used RDA slotted rotors on my 2F race car. Did about 8 race meetings and never had a problem. No cracks or bad wear marks. I was happy with them. I wasn't sure if they would be up to it but was pleasantly surprised.

If it's a daily driver with occassional track work they will be fine.

I used EBC pads for about 5 race meetings and Hawk blue for the other 3.

They should be a bit cheaper than the DBA4000 series also.

i used bendix ultimate. they fell appart - literally. they are good for street use and probably fine for most non turbo or supercharged mx5's for track days but my car is a bit quicker on the straights. I will probably be getting hawk blues for track days on the front. the rears were fine. as above my rotors have had not issues at all with the punishment.

I had RDA's on my NA and cracked one first time I took it to wakefield...

hang on if its meant to be DBA and they put on RDA (I'm assuming you got someone to supply and fit the DBA 400)

Take it back and get them to give you a refund the RDA is heaps cheaper

It's an amazingly complex story ...

i originally was going to pay $800 for DBA 4000 inc fitting and bleeding with RBF600 fluid .....
but then .... when i picked up the car ... it was RDA !!!
so far ... they refunded me $250 ... and i will get another $150 !
so in the end.... $400 for all 4 rotors (RDA) plus bleeding using RBF600 and installation ain't bad....
i'm happy with the RDA's .... the performance is fine
i don't want them to crack at wakefield like some ppl have mentioned ...
even though $400 is cheap !!!!!
IT WILL BE MORE EXPENSIVE IF ... i crack the RDA's and spend another $800 on DBA4000's

the thing is ... some say RDA is good ... and many ppl have said that they crack within 2-3 track meetings (simple google search)
if i know they won't crack ... $400 is a pretty good deal i would have thought ....
but if they do/will crack with my current pads... i want to get them exchanged asap !!!

Too many variables are involved to be objective about this - what pads were used, how were they bedded in, what sort of braking was involved etc etc. The fact that they have cracked for some owners and not others is inconclusive. I run them on my SP with EBC Greenstuff and am perfectly happy with them. They are much cheaper than DBA 4000's, and if they were to crack in road use you would be entitled to a refund. If they are working fine I would leave it be and stop worrying. Until you are approaching record track day lap times they should be just fine.

like i mentioned earlier .... i have Endless CC-X pads all round ..
they certainly not easy on rotors ... thats why i am worrying.
but if u are running them on your SP with greenstuff pads ... then it should be okay with N/A NB8B =)

I used RDA's on the rear of my car for a while now. Using Hawk HP+ which is more aggressive than Ultimates or EBC's. They've been fine.... I've seen 330C on the rears when I've checked it with the IR temp gun. The Hawk Blue's Red2FMx5 were using are significantly harder on rotors than any of these as well and he was doing 1:09's around wakefield....that is quick.

I am running RDA slotted rotors from a BMW E30 on the front of my MK2 Escort race car and have had no issues what so ever! I am using Volvo 4 spot calipers and custom made pads using the Bendix formula used in Porsche Carerra Cup so they get a fair amount of punishment and after around 1500 km of sprints so far this year cant complain at all.

Save your cash, the DBA's are horribly overpriced!

Who's Jeff??

I did the brake conversion myself. I'm an ex qualified mechanic.

The race car isnt an RS but i have an original un-molested RS that is currently undergoing full restoration.

a friend of mine has an rs2000 he has just got repained (red) and got a new motor built. Jeff is a fabricator around town who does volvo 4pot kits for the escorts. he also builds type 9 5 speeds with extra tall first ratio. i think he is also working on a conversion kit for the duratech motors.
