What does happen to Rota wheels that get pushed a little bit?
Like three rounds on the Nordschleife on a EK4 Turbo with Tarox 10 piston brakes. Dimension is 7,5X17. Car had serious power. Something about 500hp. (No idea if that is true)


Front wheel bend by the engine power into the driving direction.

Rota wheels are a great example of you get what you pay for. A good wheel at a great price!

Seriously, if you have that much power and r comp tyres, why choose a cheap wheel with toothpics for spokes! I admit I am a Rota fanboi, I run 15x7 RB's which at 6.2 kg each are significantly lighter than the equivalent "Superlite" and they will stand up to any sensible abuse you can throw at them. The finish on mine are top notch too. Yes, I know that there are many forged wheels which are lighter and stronger, but for ~$850 a set delivered, Rotas are great.

Dumping on Rota wheels in general for this failure is like a fat bastard sitting on a kiddies chair and complaining when it breaks.

I somehow get the feeling he wasn't going that fast or lets say hard. Have a look at how smooth the tread is. its as smooth as a babys backside. Its almost as smooth as my own RT615 which have never seen a racetrack. and are nearly at the end of thier life. I havent done any serious touge driving for some time.
the edges aren't really that worn either.

Nurburgring is a one way public tollway.....so yes I'd be going along there with a little caution. But I'd still be giving it a fair bit of stick. After 3 laps......surley you'd expect to see some serious tyre wear . yes on the way home you'd wear some rough stuff off......but to me it seems pretty smooth no evidence of any marbels or rubber just peeling off.

so how does that sound.....no doubt.... he's seroiusly damaged his wheels... but probably did it without trying too hard

Glad I haven't got those wheels. In all my life I've never seen anything so pathetic.

Wow, that makes me want to go for BBS next time! On the topic of the Nurburgring, I just did it a few days ago in a 1.4L Golf. Even in such an underpowered car it was an absolute blast!

I have both Rota wheels (18 inch) and BBS RX (16 inch) wheels. Ive had to get the BBS wheels re rounded twice each wheel at a cost of about $100 a time (total $800 worth of re rounding). For daily driving i recon the rotas have been much better than the BBS. Having said that the rotas are for the street and the BBS are now my designated track tyre.
