I'm sure I've seen 225/50/15's in standard road tyres somewhere. It's the standard size on mitsubishi galant VR4's I think. No doubt a few others but I know a guy at work that got 225 wide 15" street rubber for a VR4 recently.

225/50/15 would be a bit tall, i've got 205/50/15 on 15x7's and with road tyres there is too much play in the side wall for me (and the speedo is about 7% out). I'm going to be getting 15x8's and will be fitting 195/50 but then I'm also aiming for the stretched look.

205/50 but some rolling, pumping, and all sorts of mangaling will need to be done if your 5 is pretty low. 195/45/50 will not interferre with your guards unless your scraping on the floor.

He hasn't even mentioned the offset how do you know they will scrape?
James, I think you may just have to go for 205/50, they should sit well on a 8" rim without too much fooli sik sidewall angle and still be nice and stable. I am running 195s on 7 atm and they sit pretty well but would go 195s on my 7.5" rims when I get them to get the walls sitting right(though I am going to get 205...traction issues), I think 205 on 8" would be about the same. The only wider 15s I know of in a reasonable tyre probably be T1R in 215 but they are quite soft in the sidewall. Oh yea and I assume these are for road wheels? What did you get? Offset?

offset is 0 and the arches will not be an issue
. so you think my stock 195 50 15s will work? I am a little concerned. I may get them fitted and see how it goes. its only about 80 bucks to get them fitted. anyone know somewhere that will actually do it?

Have you either pulled the arches or fitted flares?

all will be told eventually - via pictures after fitting
Ok I have been told by Jax that the BF Goodrich g force sport in a 205 50 15 is a really wide 205. If the 195's get a little dodgy I will get these I think. I have read some pretty good things on the big forum about these tyres.

i have ran 225/50R15 GIIIs on +35ish offset rims and they were fine.. car was lowered quiet a bit and the gaurds were rolled (not pulled) and the camber wasnt anything a standard car couldnt achieve.
it didnt rub much only over large bumps and on full lock. rears didnt rubb at all. im sure however if the people i got to roll the gaurds had of done a better job you would have even less issues and if you pump or pull the gaurds it would be fine pending on the wheel offset camber and ride hight of course.
looked hot as though
look at my car domain photos in there
