Nube adjusting the hand brake question?

So I closed the gap on the rear calipers with the alen key. So when I pull the hand break 3 clicks and it aint goin nowhere...

Every time I ajust the hand break does it improve breaking performance when you press the pedal?

Or is adjusting the hand brake totally independent of the pedal?

(I feel I dont have to press the pedal as deep before it starts to bite, or is this due to the new fluids after bleeding?)

yea it is improving bite time for the rear brakes via pedal, its the same mechanism for both hand and foot brake, only that foot is hydrulic and other is mech but both push the same piston.

I thought the brake bias worked on pressure, so I wouldn't think it would make a difference, although the distance the pad is required to move is reduced the pressure it places on the rotor wouldn't change

the piston will only move so far with the foot pedal pressure, move the piston closer to th edisk and it'll try to move that same distance - or put more pressure on the disk.
Tried and tested!!

so sheck, are you saying that can fiddle with your front/rear brake bias by adjusting the handbrake?? i've never heard that before.

no i'm saying that there is a big difference in bias/feel between having the piston/pads sitting against the disk (ie adjusted properly) and them not sitting against the pads (ie getting loose over time).

Not sure about NB's etc but next time you drive an NA try it and you will see a big difference in breaking performance.

Also with the handbrake thing, i'd bet that if you were braking with both foot and handbrake the bias/feel would be much better than not.

the piston will only move so far with the foot pedal pressure, move the piston closer to th edisk and it'll try to move that same distance - or put more pressure on the disk.

I guess what i'm saying is that the bias is the same, but because the piston starts furthur or closer to the disk you get better or worse braking.

*edit* oohoo it'll probably only feel alot better if your handbrake is crap and need readjusting all the time, mine was good for only 1-2 months then required readjusting every week or two.
