How often do you need to clean them to keep them looking clean?

And what sort of Brake Pads are you using?

Back when i had my white rims on the red five i would say i cleaned them once a week. I was using Bendix CT's and found they didn't produce much dust at all. The only reason i washed them every week was because i don't like the stuff building up over time.

As long as you wash them down once a week or so i don't think pads which produce a lot of dust would be a problem (in terms of cleaning). Its just if you leave it there for a while, then it becomes stubborn to remove.

My white set would need washing every week or two. The longer you leave them the harder it is to catch up. Brake dust is part brake pad material and part ex brake rotor, i.e. powdered steel. Leaving it there and letting it get wet gives you faint rust marks.

If you get white wheels make sure they're an easy to clean design - no hard to get at bits, slots, grooves, bolts, fiddly bits, etc. Also the paint needs to be good, glossy and hard. Age and high temps can make wheel paint can get like blottting paper for brake dust.

I've got pale gold wheels that have good paint and good design. They take 10 mins to clean. The older white ones take 2 hours.

Just a quick bucket and sponge once a week. I found since using EBC red stuff and EBC green stuff the brake dust is reasonably minimal now. Now that I have changed to black wheels I find I am cleaning them just as much. Then again white wheels look just spectacular when they are clean

I run Bendix Ultimate, and I clean them all the bloody time, haha haha
