Hey does anyone have these wheels in Australia? If so where did they get them?
I love the oldschool dish wheels but not sure where I can get them in Aus.

Are there any other wheels similar to the Sportmax 002's and the Work Equip 03's?

Only sold them recently. I think he imported them himself.

yep they look fantastic, however i remember him saying that it adversely affected the handling and performance of the car.

Yeah they looked really tough on the car, but the handling went to sh*t. The car would under steer all the time, and also it was extremely hard to get rid of all the scrubbing.

The 002's also stick out the sides by about an inch, soo you will need flares to keep the police away. Too much work to do right, and at the end of the day your stuck with an MX5 that looks cool but wont handle like an MX5. I was alot happier when I went back to higher offset wheels.

Gee it does stick out far. What spec tires did you use? Were they the 15x8 +0?
Some how people are able to fit them under the guard, perhaps it involves stretching a thinner tires over it and using lots of camber.
Did you roll the guards? (looks like it). That little lip bit would most certainly rub.

Damn, ruins handling that much. I was kinda hoping it was bearable as they'd only be used on the street where it wouldn't matter much, then use the rp01s on the track. Was it just understeer or other things too?

Heaps of people in america use them, but maybe they don't care how it handles.

Maybe I should get wheel spacers for my rp01 so the fill the guard more. But no dish...

I was using a 195/50 15 stretched onto 15x8 0 offset.. The yank guys dump their cars very low, roll/stretch their guards, and run crazy camber to keep them from rubbing.

They guys in America use them as 002's are very cheap in USA, something like $300 a set..

There are also problems with wheel strength, being soo cheaply made they tend to fall to bits instead of bending like a good wheel would.




As for handling, the car felt like it was a fwd when cornering hard, turn in was terrible, and having no power steering in the clubman made life harder.

You can get the Equip 03's in a better offset than 0. But bloody expensive. Some one was selling them for 1700 a set on mr2 forums.

Does anyone import 6UL wheels from 949 racing? Love the design, colour, lightness, offset and price.

You have to remember though that the guys that use them over there like them because if they hit something with the wheel and damage it, they have another one at their door two days later for $100. It'd cost at least that much to repair a bent rim here, so its probably not that big a deal that they break rather than bend. Unless you live thousands and thousands of kilometres away where it costs heaps to get a wheel sent over.

That car looks good, the 6UL wheels look like Australian wheels though. But the sizes they're available in are appealling.

gotta remember that broken rim was from hitting a curb while drifting, alot of aftermarket wheels will do that, probably moreso with thte expensive ones cause to get light weight they need to forge which means brittle (correct me if i'm wrong there). I think only steeleis would bend if you hit a curb sideways at say 50-60km/h

But yea big camber and big fender pulling is what they do, also running 195/50's on the 8 inch rim is what most of the drift guys in the US do to run those wheels.

I'm running +9 - lets say +10 offset rims and i love the handling, wayyy better than stock offset. You just need to get your alingment right, and suspension set up, no point running stock shock spring combo with majorly different offset wheels and weak camber numbers..

I think I'll stay with the rp01 for now, theyre +35 offset I think, Handles quite well, just have limited tyre choice in 14", and can't afford semi's this time round. I'm just concerned with grip from the 185's when the turbo goes in. I didn't like the GIII's in 185. Might need to go 205 but then I'd need new 15's.

I only run re001 on front and kumho spt on back, still really grippy

the 949s are light and do come in great sizes... but they just look like something out of bob jane's workshop
