Good luck with this Mark.

You do not want them to be coming out in big lots to save feight as that will attract duty and make what seems a great deal pretty ordinary.
If he means that the company will ship mulitple individual sets cheaper then this ok .

Duty kicks in at a value of $1000 for goods bought for personal use ,including freight and is at 15% of the goods cost plus GST(10%) calculated on the cost of the goods and the duty and the feight.

I recently got a freight quote of $380 for Chaparrals from RSpeed,(they are heavier than yours around 16lbs)) so your quote for freight seems reasonable.

Peter.

Also assuming you have an NA as you are going for 15\", then the 8\" rim is illegal for road use as they exceed 25mm (1\") over the standard width.

So are 15X7's but everyone has them. You can use 205/50's on these wheels. I dont think there are many options for 225/45's available here.

That's a good price for the freight.
I posted a lightweight wheel (just 1) to Perth this week and they charged me almost $50 just for the postage!

Some of the International Air Mail (EMS) services are quite reasonable.....i have a set of wheels from Japan on the way $250 for freight.

18racing.com in the states are also a good source for Rota, The RB in 15x8 various offsets will cost about 1k landed too.

How much are the 225-50-15 Ao48's? Are they street legal and what is the expected mileage?
Thanks Col

according to this Australian website they are D.O.T.-approved
http://www.tractiontyres.com.au/mstyres.html

Tire rack also mentions they are DOT approved. But thats in North America.

This is by no means a reflection on you... more on the daily hack

You gotta be trying really hard to attract attention in that thing...!

RT615 is not a lot different from the old RT215. In the dry on a mountain road I preferred the old RT215. RT615is not a semislick. Its a road compound with a semislick type tread pattern. Just like its predecessor the RT215.
But an awesome street tyre for the weekend warrior.

I would dare say The Advan A048 would be quite a different tyre to the RT615. I would guess its more in the category of say the Dunlop DO1's.
It is a lot softer compound to the RT615. And would therefore be severely affected by no of heat cycles. So its almost comparing apples with oranges.

If you want a comparison between the RT215 & the 615 you'd better start a new thread. And my opinion would certainly be subjective.

Pumpn'Go wrote:Emilio used to have a cheap freight company that brought stuff by sea,but the company closed.
I hope to find cheap freight, because tyres in the US are cheap $86.00 for the Falkens, over $200.00 here that leaves quite a bit of room for freight just not enough for Air freight, And they can get heaps of tyres that we ca'nt.

I wish I could find a sea feight company as well;RSpeed have the Chapparals (minilite type)fitted with either 195/50 or 205/50 S Drives for a total of $770 US a set !!!!!

Over a $1000 freight by air which then has duty implications, so you would need to do sea freight. RSpeed doesn't provide sea.,only air

I am making a light luggage trip back to Oz in December and I plan on bringing two of the 15x8's with me, plus 2 x 225/50/15 A048's for the rear of my car. The 225's are $204US each from tirerack here, just too good to pass up ! I will wait for the 15x7.5's to be made next year to get my front ones, and I will run a 205 tyre on them... see how that goes ! I will grab a set of those alloy wheel nuts while I am at it too...

I'm not sure on both counts, I just noticed that one of the front running 2F class cars up here uses them in that size.

Cheers,
Julian.
