Has anyone fitted the Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 tyres in their cars? What is the performance like? Say compared to the Bridgestone Potenza RE001?



My priority is great performance on the wet & good wear rate. Any comment will help. Thanks

They are really good until they get about 3/4 worn, then they get a bit slippery.

However, I now have Bridgestone RT 615's on the car, and find that they are considerably better as far as traction goes, yet they still have quick reactions and good feel.

They're fitted to the NC. Excellent wet or dry.

9/10's worn on my car now and they dont quite grip as well as they used to. But you'd expect that. The trip up to the Oxley Hwy and surrounds at Easter killed them I think. 120km of at the limit cornering will do that.

I think you might be talking Falken Azenis RT 615.

You're right STM.

All those Japs look the same to me, but those Falkens are terrific, and I've never liked Falkens up till now but these RT615's are just so good.
However, I believe they don't have a very long life, but hell, in a sports car dríven for performance, who cares!

I have them as the standard fitment, they're not bad. Very consistent across a wide range of temperatures. I think my rears are about 50% gone after 10,000km's

Nothing really special though.

I too love the Falkens. My current set are the Falken FK-451. Great tyres, long lasting and with plenty of grip dry or wet.

But as you said Benny, when they get down to 3/4 worn, they loose their grip. Chalk and cheese actually (previous to these set where also Falken FK-451s, worn to the wear markers, and I immediately noticed the difference when I fitted the new set.

Unfortunately, when Falkens released the replacement to the FK-451, the FK-452 early this year, they no longer have the size to fit the standard NB8B - 205/45/16.

they seem to be shunning the 16 \" size..... what a shame. & Falken is not the only company doing that.
Never dríven on the FK-415/2 but I'd certainly would never purchase any of their lesser tyres. The Azenis 115 was suppposed to be quite good too.

Yea The RT615 is an awesome tyre indeed......but I preferred the Old RT215's

I suppose its like the NA's Vs NB's. The newer model is just a little faster & much more refined than the old 215's. But there is nothing like back to basics & drive on a unrefined animal NA & RT215.....They went hand in hand for a weekend warrior.

16\" is definitely the forgotten size. I gave up and went back to 15\" rims, also with RT615s.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the PP2s, but I like to have a choice of more than 1 tyre.

There are plenty of tyres in the 205/45R16 size.
Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Dunlop etc etc all have tyres in that size.

If people are fixated on Yokohama and Falken (for some unknown reason) then thats their problem

What about the tires for 14\" wheels?
Is it still fairly easy to look for them these days?

I went tyre shopping at lunch time today, and the bloke i spoke to recommended BF Goodrich g sport of something I think they were called. He sold Michy's as well, which is why I went in there, but he has apparently used both the PP2's and the BF's and thinks the Goodrich's are a better tyre....... He said they do have a better tyre life than the PP2's, and give just as good grip in wet and dry.

I hate trying to buy tyres, everyone has a different opinion

Is the dealer a BF Goodrich dealer?

just to qualify this before it gets out of hand........Michelin OWN B.F. Goodrich...the tyre he was talking about is the BFG G Force Profiler or a G Force Sport, which are essentially a Michy with a BFG price point.......i've mentioned this tyre before as a possibilty, but was ignored ........it is well worth a look Gerard, total Michelin technology
