Kumho KU31 - any got them?

As above, 205/45/16 for $167 per corner sounds OK to me - anyone got them? What are they like?

Chris - apparently the V700/V70A (same tyre - both numbers are on the sidewall) superceeds the KU31. I have the V700/V70A for the road and seem very good for a streetable semi-slick - decent grip in the wet (although I haven't been through a deep puddle to check their resistance to aquaplaning) and reasonably quiet.
Will try them on Sunday and see how they go on the track compared to the Toyo 888.

KU31 is a road tyre though - not a semi...now I'm confused?

Yeah - I was originally looking for the KU31 but no one could get them for me and I was told they were no longer available. Maybe like the A539 did they are living on. And on....
I think they are more like a Toyo T1R then a Toyo 888. Can get coloured smoke ones for the burnout boys
The V700 isn't as hard core as the
V700 VictoRacers or the
V710 which is basically a slick with two longitudinal grooves (both are DOT approved
).
I highly recommend the V700 though

I'm running KU31 on the rear, i think they are a very good cheap street tyre. Much better than my previous Firehawk wide ovals.
I'm running Azenis 215 on the front and the car is still quite neutral, plus i just fitted a new KAAZ 1.5way LSD expecting to get snap oversteer, but was rewarded with extreme grip
with very slight oversteer when pushing hard. I'm also running the rears at 41psi cold! Fronts at 34 cold.
Pretty sure these are fairly new tyres which should mean they are still availible???
Think you might of been thinking the Kumho MX Casey? This was a semi slick, but i too havent been able to find them anywhere! And these are the ones with the colour smoke, i'm pretty sure..

I'm very interested in these... They have the size I will be looking for and for a reasonable price.
The KU31 with coloured smoke don't really enthuse me though!
Let me now how you get on CT. My crappy Nankangs are just about dead.

better known as the ecsta SPT
i run then on both my MX5 and accord euro.
i went from 195/60/14 on 14x5.5 falken azenis RT615s
to 195/50/15 on 15x8 Kuhmo Ecsta SPTs
grip was about the same!
maybe a slight advantage to the 615s, but the wheel width made it close.
they are great in the wet, quiet, last ages!
i got my 15s for $90.
will see how they compare to bridgestone adrenalins very soon

I'm running them on all four wheels. Grip is pretty decent. I think I've had them for about 10k km's. They seemed to grip better when newer, but that might've just been me driving a little less spiritedly (is that a word?). Noise wise seems reasonable, but in all honesty I don't really have anything to compare them to. I got new tyres about 5k after I bought the car.
Wet grip is pretty good. Requires a fair bit of throttle and sharp steering for me to get the car to lose it a little bit round a corner I know well.

Thanks mate, just to clarify, you've got the KU31, or the Ecsta SPT?
So these are just rebadged SPTs? RT615 type of grip for around half the price????

KU31 is the SPT same same..
grip isnt at the level of 615s, I think the wheel width increase was responsible.. but for the price its decent.

The tyres themselves say Kumho Ecsta SPT, but as Kula mentions, I'm fairly sure they're the same as the KU31. Considering the Kumho site lists them as the same, I would assume they are.
You can always shoot Kumho an email and see what they say.

any idea of how much are the V700/ V70A (say 205/45/R16)? the sidewall of this V700/ V70A looks like extremely firm. Maybe the firmest for the road legal tyres? and how do they perform compare with the RT615?

V70A are proper semi slicks, the RT615s are just good high perf street tyres.
wouldnt be comparable i think.

About $250 each for
new ones (new in bold as there were some dirt cheap ones going after the Lotus Cup folded). I haven't drĂven on the RT615 but the V700's are in the same sort of class as the Toyo 888. Not the best semi slick but should be better then a good road tyre.
They are as road legal as any other DOT semi slick. I like them as they a very quiet (comparitively speaking) and make an ideal road tyre - I normally only do 7-10K per year and normal road tyres always go off well before they are worn out.
The only real drawback is that the sidewall offers absolutly no protection for the wheel - the bead of the wheel rim protudes 5-10mm due to the sidewall shape.

You're probably right but this is just what a particular supplier told me. If you click on CT's link and then the KU31 tyre you'll see the first 6 or so are coloured smoke
